Don Young

Don Young never became as famous as his many New York City competitors – who in the late 1940s included Alonzo James Hanagan (Lon of New York), Robert Gebhart (Gebbé), Al Urban, and others – but he worked actively from his home studio in Brooklyn, as Eastern Model Guild, for a period of about a decade, stretching into the 1950s. He was the first photographer to photograph some of the East Coast's luminary bodybuilders, including Lou Degni (who went on to movie stardom in Italian sword-and-sandal films under the name Mark Forest).

Don Young's photographs are highly collectible, because so few are known to exist.
