Model: Agne Camilli

Agne Camilli on postcards printed by Alfred Noyer, Paris, ca. 1915-1925.

The original photographer is listed as both Henri and Henry, but I have no other information about him.

In the early twentieth century, bodybuilding competitions were in their infancy, and it was often unclear what constituted a perfect male body. In the 1920s, the young Corsican, Agne Camilli, won several contests. Camilli began appearing in physical culture magazines in 1914; he was a popular model and physical culture instructor, and between 1920 and 1925, he won at least five contests.
