Photographer: Stuart Rosenberg (Troy Saxon Studio)

Stuart Rosenberg ran Troy Saxon Studio from Kansas City, Missouri (USA), sometimes credited as “Saxon” or “Saxon Studio” in magazines. The name of the studio derives from the "stage name" used by Rosenberg as a physique model, "Troy Saxon". Rosenberg was active in physique photography from the mid-1950s until 1978 or so.

Some of Rosenberg's models are: Mac Johnson, Shane Douglas, Troy Saxon (Stuart Roseberg), Jimmy South, Rusty Steele, Mark Stinner (Mark Stein), Terry Hunt, Donnie Kaye, Butch Alman, Frank Ball, Bill Rice, Barry, Dan and Jerry, Don Riggs.

From 1965 on, many of Rosenberg's photos were used in publications by and sold by Directory Services Inc (DSI) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and (after ~1970) San Francisco, California. Almost all of DSI's products were photographs taken by other studios and reproduced, with or without compensation, by DSI.

Note: There was at least one Saxon (no studio) operating in Europe and one (Saxon Studio) operating in Britain at the same time as Rosenberg leading to confusion as to which is the source of photos in magazines that have images from both American and European studios. Also, several Kodachrome images thought to be by Bruce Bellas are credited to a "Phineas Rosenberg", which may have been another entity of Bruce Bellas.
